태고사 20주년 개산대재 행사 안내문

삼보에 귀의 하옵고

태고사 불자님들 창건주 에릭 무량스님이 지은 이래로 주지는 원율스님, 해안스님, 범휴스님, 무량스님 살았고 2013년 12월부터는 형전스님이 소임을 살고 있습니다. 이 같은 세월이 20년이 흘렀습니다. 1994년 첫 삽을 뜨고 공사를 시작했던 기억을 생생히 하실 겁니다. 그 환희의 순간을 어떻게 잊으시겠습니까? 불 보살님과 함께 한 순간이었습니다. 태고사는 이곳, 모하비 사막에서 영원히 존재하며 우리 불자들을 반갑게 맞이 하고 있습니다. 고향의 어머님 같은 곳입니다.

우리 불자님들의 신심과 원력으로 이만큼 건립 되었습니다.  LA 태고사는 미주 불교의 새로운 역사를 쓰고 있습니다. 최초의 미주 산중 수행 도량으로 한국의 전통양식으로 지어진 성스러운 곳입니다. 한인들 뿐 아니라 현지인들도 함께 하는 부처님 도량입니다. 스무 번째 생일입니다. 많은 불자님들이 동참해서 축하해 주십시오.

이번 행사 공양금은 모두 태고사 태양 전기 증장 불사에 쓰입니다.

20-Year Celebration of Spirit Center “Taegosa”

Jogye Order Korean Temple and International Zen Center in Tehachapi

On Sunday, September 14th, 2014 from 11am – 1pm, Mountain Spirit Center (“Taegosa”) will mark its 20-year anniversary with a public ceremony.

Located at 8400 Juniper Way in Tehachapi CA, Mountain Spirit Center was founded in 1994 by Erik Berall (MuryangSunim), a Zen practitioner and student of Zen Master SeungSahn. The temple, considered a modern masterpiece of design, “off-the-grid” sustainability, spirituality, and wellbeing, was built by practicing people, Zen students, and the Korean community of Los Angeles, California, Korea, and worldwide over 10+ years as a place for people to practice meditation and sincerely pursue awakening for the benefit of all beings.

The anniversary festivities will begin on Saturday evening at 7pm with a traditional Tea Ceremony and movie screening of “On the way,” a Korean documentary following the Zen life of three Korean Buddhist nuns.On Sunday, the main event will begin at 11am with a short ceremony including Tai Chi Chuan demonstration, Korean pop dance, and singing performance, followed by a Temple Festival and vegetarian lunch at noon. There will also be an opportunity for people to light a candle and make a wish, and a photo display of the 20 years history.

This event is open to everyone. Donations are welcome.
