 삼보에 귀의하옵고,

   안녕하세요. 소승 인사 드립니다. 혜안입니다.
   1999년에 무량 스님과 인연이 되어 태고사 개원식에서부터 10주년 행사까지는 옆에서 간간이 돕고 지켜만 보던 관계였는데 어느덧 태고사 주지의 소임을 맡게 되었습니다.
   그동안 어렵고 힘든 시기를 넘기면서 태고사를 창건하신 무량 스님이 수행에만 전념하시기 위하여 수행처에 들어 가신지 어언 4년이 되었습니다. 그 동안 어렵고 힘든 일을 맡아 태고사를 꾸려 오신 원율스님도 이제는 한국에서 수행에만 전념하시려고 태고사의 주지 소임을 놓으셨습니다.
   많은 것이 모자라는 소승이 이제 두 분 스님의 뒷 그림자 역할이라도 하려고 합니다. 태고사 사부대중 여러분께서 많은 도움 주시길 바랍니다.

   소승은 앞으로 태고사를 불자님들과 함께 수행하고 만들어가는 대중참여 불교의 형식으로 운영하고자 합니다. 시행착오도 있고 좀 어수룩한 부분도 있겠으나 서로 돕고 이해하며 노력하면 된다고 믿습니다.
   사찰과 신도가 분리된 개념이 아니라 같은 생각으로, 함께 나아가는 수행공동체 형태의 도량이 되도록 하겠습니다. 잠시 왔다가는 삶이지만 참되고 올바른 삶을 추구하는 불자들이 되어 스님과 재가신도님들이 같이 수행하고 격려하며 서로 이해하고 노력하는 도량으로 거듭나고자 합니다.

   지금까지 물심양면으로 태고사에 도움을 주신 많은 불자님들께 진심으로 깊은 감사의 말씀을 올립니다. 앞으로도 더 많은 격려와 질책을 주시길 부탁드립니다.
   올 한 해를 보내고 새해를 맞이하면서 신도님들 댁내에 부처님의 자비광명이 충만하시길 기원드리며 하시고자 하는 일 모두 원만히 성취되시길 부처님전에 발원합니다.

<알리는 말씀>


1. 평소 일요법회

   주지 스님이 새로 오셨지만 일반 법회는 이전처럼 매주 일요일 오전 11시에 대웅전에서 있습니다. 많은 분들이 참여하여 마음도 맑히시고 가피도 받으시기 바랍니다.


2. 1월 3일(일) 신년 법회

   불기 2554년(서기 2010년) 경인년 호랑이의 해를 맞이하는 공식 행사로서 신년 법회가 오는 1월 3일 일요일 오전 11시 태고사 대웅전에서 열립니다.
   많은 불자님들이 참여하시어 부처님의 가피를 받는 밝은 새해를 맞이하시기 바랍니다. 이날 36인승 임시 버스 한 대가 평소처럼 운행합니다.


3. 매월 버스 운행 계속

   태고사는 매월 두번째 주 일요일에 버스를 운행하고 있습니다. 많은 분들이 애용해 주시기 바랍니다.
   특별히 1월엔만 첫째 일요일(1월 3일)과 둘째 일요일(1월 10일)에 각각 한대 씩 버스가 운행합니다. 버스 출발 시간과 정차 지점은 이전과 같으며 아래를 참조하시기 바랍니다.

   BFI bus yard 에서 오전 7시,
   가든 그로브 가주 마켓앞에서 오전 7시 40분,
   코리아 타운 갤러리아 마켓 앞에서 오전8시 30분,
   노스 할리우드 맥도날드 앞에서 오전9시 출발입니다.


4. 동지, 제야, 설날, 기도 등

   기타 민속 명절 등 태고사의 비공식 행사일이나 비공식 기념일에도 태고사에 오셔서 스님과 함께 뜻깊은 날을 기념하시거나 화목한 시간을 가질 수 있습니다.
   동지 12월 20일(일, 22일을 당겨서 함), 제야 및 신정 (12월 31목, 1월 1일,금), 구정 2월 14일(일).
   올해는 주지 스님 승계 등으로 따로 동안거 기간을 정하지 못했습니다. 누구나 언제든지 미리 주지 스님께 연락하시고 태고사에서 일정한 기간 머무시면서 기도 수행을 하실 수 있습니다.


5. 공양주 구함

   태고사는 태고사에 머무르면서 음식 공양, 청소, 잡무 등을 도우실 유급 공양주 보살님을 찾고 있습니다.
   그리고 태고사사는 수시로 자원 봉사자들이 필요합니다.
   전화 받기, 청소, 울력, 컴퓨터 등 갖가지 노력 봉사에 뜻이 있으신 분은 태고사(661-822-7776)나 태고사를 돕는 사람들 대표 이원익(562-833-5620 leewonik@hotmail.com) 거사께 언제든지 연락해 주시기 바랍니다.


6. 태고사 달력이 나왔습니다

   태고사의 새해 달력이 나왔습니다. 절에 오셔서 참배도 하시고 달력도 받아 가시기 바랍니다.


7. 소식지 발송

   태고사 편지는 격월로 발송 됩니다. 혹 편지를 받지 못하신 분들은 연락을 주시기 바랍니다. 관음전의 방명록에 성함과 연락처, 주소 등을 남겨 주시기 바랍니다.


8. 인등 및 보시

   인등을 올리신 분들은 인등이 미납 되었는지 확인하여 주시기 바랍니다.
   또한 더 많은 신도님들의 인등 공양을 기다립니다. 인등은 매월 한 가정에 20불입니다.
   태고사는 불자 여러분들의 보시로 유지 됩니다.
   태고사에 수표로 보시하실 분들은 수혜자 이름(payable to)을 Mountain Spirit Center 로 적어 주시면 됩니다.

Birds are weeping without tears.”


   Vowing to Buddha, Dharma and Sangha,

   How are you? I am Hye Ahn, a humble monk offering my sincere greeting to you.
   As fate would have it, I started to watch or help Mu Ryang sunim since 1999 until being made abbot of this temple now.
   It has been already 4 years since Mu Ryang sunim, who founded this temple left this temple for his own practice.
   And Won Yul sunim, who worked very hard to manage the abbacy after him also left this temple for his own practice now.
   As a result, in spite of my lacking talent and capacity I have no choice but to succeed my predecessors. One of the things I rely on best is your continuous support and help.

   I’d like to give forth my best efforts to make Tae Go Sah an open temple for all to participate in practice and volunteer.
   Of course, there may be some errors or insufficiencies, but we can overcome such barriers with our co-operation, understanding and devotion.
   As we think that monks and lay buddhists are not separated but one single body, we should make this temple a community where everybody practices together and encourages each other.
   Even though our lives are very short, we’d like to be sincere buddhists seeking the right life. And in this pure place of Buddha, both monks and lay buddhists will have to practice, encourage, understand and effort together.

   I’d like to thank all the devotees who helped build this temple with their sincere minds and/or pure materials. I beg for their continuous encouragement and calling for the task.
   As we close this year and greet a new year, I wish for the brightness of Buddha to all your family members. And I wish that all your dreams will be materialized smoothly by the great protection of Buddha.

1. Sunday Meeting

   Despite succession of the new abbot, Sunday meeting for the public is scheduled same as before; 11 am at Buddha Hall every week. Please join it for purification of your mind and protection of Buddha.


2. New Year’s ceremony on Jan 3(Sun.)

   As an official ceremony of Tae Go Sah, we will have New Year’s Ceremony at 11 am on Jan 03 at Buddha Hall to celebrate the year of tiger (2554 B.E., 2010).
   We expect many people will come and celebrate for a bright new year with Buddha’s protection.
   A bus (36 passengers) will operate as usual.


3. Monthly Busing

   We are busing every second Sunday. We encourage more people to utilize the busing.
   Specially in January only, we will bus both first Sunday (Jan 3) and second Sunday (Jan 10).
   Please see stop points and time as follows;

4. Winter Solstice, New Year’s Eve, Lunar New Year and others

   You may celebrate or enjoy at Tae Go Sah several unofficial ceremonies or festival days like followings; Winter Solstice (Dec 20, Sun. instead of 22), New Year’s Eve (Dec 31, Thu), Lunar New Year(Feb 14, Sun.)
   Due to the transition of abbacy, we missed setting up of winter retreat this year.    However, you may come any time to the Temple for your practice/prayer during your short or mid-term stay. Please contact the Abbot for his approval in advance in this case.

5. Looking for a Cook

   We are looking for a paid cook for Korean temple meals for the monks and lay Buddhists. Her job will include cooking, cleaning and other miscellaneous businesses.
   Tae Go Sah needs volunteers, too. If you wish for volunteering in answering phone calls, cleaning, outside work or computer, or if you have any inquiries, please contact Tae Go Sah (661-822-7776) or Mr. Won Lee (562-833-5620 leewonik@hotmail.com) who represent People Helping Tae Go Sah any time.


   6. New calendars are being distributed

   New Tae Go Sah calendars are available for you. Please come and get the calendar as well as pay homage to the Buddha.


7. Newsletters

   We send Newsletters every other month. Please let us know if any of you are not receiving them. First comers are encouraged to leave your name, telephone and mailing address in the Visitor’s Directory.


8. Family Lanterns and Donations

   We’d like to remind you of the family lanterns for any pending donations.
   I encourage more people to join this project by donating 20 dollars per family per month.
   The Temple will be able to secure a more stable financial ground for various plans such as Temple maintenance and propagation by your donations. If you wish to donate by a check to Tae Go Sah, write beneficiary of the donation as Mountain Spirit Center.
